Dear friends of Saltbox,
We are sending out details of our CareLink Christmas campaign in the hopes that you are able to help us continue providing this essential people to vulnerable and isolated older people.
Our service provides telephone befriending and wellness checking to people over 50 who don’t have people to watch over them or to ask how they are on a dialy basis. For many as theygrow older, ill health or the onset of dementia limits their opportunities to go out. Perhaps they have no family or their loved ones are too far away to take care of their day-to-day care needs. For others, losing their constant companion of many years affects their confidence to live fully on their own.
According to research, loneliness and the ensuing decline in mental well-being has the same negative imapct on physical health as smoking 15 cigarettes a day. Our Christian compassion compels us to actively work to make sure that men and women of all backgrounds who have been valued members of our society for decades should not suddenly be forgotten and left to navigate the many complications that come with getting older simply because they have become invisible.
With ever increasing pressures on funding we are, for the first time, looking to the wider community of friends and supporters to help us continue this work through 2018, and to be able to support even more people.
If you feel as passionately as we do that later life shouldn’t mean a lonely life, there are lots of ways you can help support us:
The simplest way to donate is by text. To donate via your phone bill, simply text CLNK17 £10 (or your preferred donation amount) to 70070
