Faith Action have used Saltbox's CareLInk telephone befriending service as one of a handful of case studies in their latest report entitled ‘Keeping Pressure off Hospitals’. The report takes a look into the role that faith based organisations (FBOs) are playing in alleviating the pressures of caring for Britain's increasingly older population, identifying even broad categories of provision.
CareLink is used as the case study for 'upstream' preventative support, saving money for the NHS by becoming aware of health and welfare issues early on and getting the person the right support before declining physical or mental health require some form of medical intervention.
Point seven in the report - Strategic Initiatives - also speaks to our Older People's Engagement Network (OPEN) as being involved in allowing older service users to be involved in key decisions made about the provision of services directly to them.
