Eccleshall Parish – Churches: Holy Trinity, Eccleshall & St Chad’s, Slindon

Post of Children’s & Young Families’ Worker

Message from James Graham, Vicar of Eccleshall – for Eccleshall Parochial Church Council:

We are seeking to appoint a person to a twelve-hour per week post to serve the children and young families of Eccleshall Parish. Please see below a job and a person description, as well as an application form.

In Eccleshall there are approximately 3,800 inhabitants; that number will rise in the near future because houses are being built and/or planned. In Slindon, where St Chad’s Church is located (it is not a parish church, but part of Eccleshall Parish), some 140 people reside. Further details about the parish and the two churches can be found at the church website: See there not just the pattern of worship but also the annual report for 2015 and a ‘parish plan’ dated 2014 but whose details are being worked out in parish life.

We have a carefully worked out parish safeguarding policy which we expect the eventual post-holder to adhere to very carefully; and we are following the Church of England’s ‘Safer Recruitment’ guidelines as we approach this appointment.

Please note that there may well be scope to develop this post in due course, in accordance with parish policy and with the ideas and gifts of the post-holder. The post will be overseen by a management group appointed by the church council, among whom will be a line-manager (who is an experienced head of a local primary school). With regard to funding this post, the parish is in the fortunate position of being able to do this for the foreseeable future.

The timetable for making an appointment will be: applications to be received by me at the above address by Monday, 27 June; interviews to occur between 18 to 22 July; post to start on 1 September 2016 (or as near to that date as possible).
