The Civic Prayer Breakfast took place on Friday 24 April 2015.

Thank you to all those who made last Friday’s annual Civic Prayer Breakfast such a memorable occasion.

Over 200 people attended including senior figures from the city’s faith, civic, community & business sectors.  Also present were local city councillors and prospective parliamentary candidates for the forthcoming General Election.

The three special guest speakers were John van de Laarschot (City Council), Val Lewis (Stoke Healthwatch) and Sara Williams (Chamber of Commerce).  While they all highlighted various challenges facing the city, they also identified future opportunities and spoke with passion and enthusiasm about the city.

At this year’s event a special “Outstanding Achievement” award was inaugurated. The recipient was Church Army Captain, Frank McGregor, for his outstandingly creative Sentinel Cross Easter project.

What was so obvious and so encouraging throughout the morning was the real sense of genuine positive support and commitment for the city from all those who were present at the event. It was a fitting reminder of just how helpful it is to bring together people of goodwill from right across our wonderful city – “United strength is stronger.

Every Blessing
