An opportunity has arisen for an experienced and enthusiastic finance professional to work with a Christian charity, Saltbox, based in Stoke-on-Trent. Saltbox undertakes infrastructure support for local churches and faith based organisations whilst also delivering a number of projects including: Restart – the housing and rehabilitation of ex-offenders; CareLink – a befriending scheme for older, vulnerable people; and Money Matters – our debt advice service.


Job Description:

Saltbox is looking for a full- or part-time Finance Assistant (c.28-35 hours per week, negotiable depending on experience) to support the finance team in the processing of all financial transactions for its respective services. This includes managing the sales ledger, purchase ledger and reconciling the charity’s bank accounts. You will support the financial administration of the organisation including managing petty cash, utilities and meter readings for our housing tenants, weekly banking, donor activities, gift aid claims and other administrative duties.

You should have at least two years’ experience in a finance role and be highly competent in the use of Microsoft Office (specifically Excel) and Sage Line 50 accounting system.

You will be a good communicator with excellent organisational and administrative skills. Self-motivated and reliable, you will be able to work well under your own initiative to ensure that all financial reporting deadlines are achieved.

The role is offered as an initial 12-month fixed term contract and will be based at our Burslem office in Stoke-on-Trent. Starting salary for the role is £18,000 per annum, pro-rata, dependent on experience.
