An exciting opportunity to gain experience in radio
UCB is looking for two creative volunteers to join the radio team in 2016, gaining experience across general programmes as well as news and current affairs.
You will have the opportunity to work directly with the whole team, covering a range of activities, including:
· Researching stories and generating programme ideas for presenters
· Finding and booking guests
· Recording interviews and creating audio packages (using Adobe Audition)
· Assisting the news and current affairs team
· Taking calls from listeners
· Helping at outside broadcasts and events
You will learn to manage a diverse workload as well as develop a capacity for clear thinking in order to deal with a live radio environment.
Engaging with social media will be part of this role, so knowledge/experience would be useful.
Successful volunteers will need a good eye for an interesting story. You should also have good communication skills, both written and verbal using both telephone and email.
You need to have a passion for Christian radio. An interest in contemporary Christian music would be helpful. You would be expected to be an ambassador for Christ and to participate in prayer with the wider team.
If you are able to be prepared to commit to your time with UCB, we will provide you with an opportunity to learn from our experienced staff, observe first-hand how a media organisation operates, hone your transferrable skills and strengthen your walk with God.
This position is based at our Broadcast Centre in Hanchurch, Stoke-on-Trent.
If you are unable to commute, local accommodation may be available, if you are prepared to willing to volunteer for 12 months on a full-time basis.
