Key Prayer Themes

return to Prayer main page

Several important themes have emerged since the first 2C7 prayer meeting:

2 Chronicles 7 v14

"If my people who are called by My name will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin and heal their land."

'Digging deeper'
We are digging a well with our humility, brokenness, tears and repentance. Without this, all God can give us is a light shower that will simply drain away.

'Careful progress'
King David discovered that he needed to proceed with great reverence and care when bringing back the Ark of the Covenant. We need similar careful preparation as we 'prepare the way of the Lord'.

'A right order'
There is a right order in God's plans. Jacob discovered that before he could have beautiful Rachel, he first had to have plain Leah. The Lord has some unattractive things that we need to face & embrace before we experience His beautiful things.

'Hidden work'
As we seek the Lord through our repentance and brokenness, there is a real sense that we are stumbling in the dark. But the Lord is at work, preparing something that is as yet hidden from sight, under the radar.

'Trent connection'
Our historic parochialism is being challenged as we are led to pray for the towns and cities along the River Trent. (See section on the 'Trent connection')
