MONEY MATTERS
Remember, you are not alone. Many people experience financial challenges, and reaching out for support is a sign of strength, not weakness.
Money worries can stem from a variety of sources, including unexpected expenses, job loss, or changes in personal circumstances. The pressures of modern life, such as rising living costs and economic uncertainty, can further exacerbate financial strain.
Many individuals find themselves facing an overwhelming sense of anxiety when it comes to managing their finances, leading to a cycle of stress and worry that can seem insurmountable. At Money Matters, we tell our clients that it is important to recognise that these challenges are common and can happen to anyone, regardless of their background or previous financial stability.
Our financial inclusion service will look at your current financial situation, including what money you have going in and out. We will check if you are getting the correct benefits, allowances, and discretionary payments, and if you are eligible for any grants to help increase your income. We may be able to support you to apply for welfare benefits, including appeals and mandatory reconsiderations (capacity allowing).
If you are struggling with debt, our qualified debt advisor may be able to advise and support you about the best options to deal with your debts. All of our debt work is done under the umbrella of Community Money Advice and is regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority.
We may also be able to advise you about ways of reducing your outgoings and learning budgeting skills to help you manage your money into the future.

In the past financial year we have…
- Have held 4,259 personal client interactions
- Held 475 advice drop-in sessions at Foodbanks
- Written off £295,298 of debts for our clients
- Managed to realise £3,225,223 worth of benefits for our clients (this includes benefits we have helped people to successfully apply for, as well as benefits people have been advised they are eligible for)
- Helped out clients access £100,679 worth of grants or donations
- Helped our clients access £128,880 worth of fuel and supermarket vouchers
You are not alone
The first thing to recognise is that feeling anxious about money is not something to be ashamed of; it is a reality that many face. Economic hardship can impact mental health, relationships, and overall well-being, making it crucial to address these feelings openly. There is sadly a societal stigma around financial difficulties that can prevent people from seeking help or discussing their situations. However, acknowledging these struggles is the first step towards regaining control and finding a path to financial stability. Remember, you are not alone—many people experience similar challenges, and reaching out for support is a sign of strength, not weakness.
At Saltbox, Money Matters, we understand the complexities and emotional toll that financial worries can have on individuals and families.
