Welcome to Saltbox

Saltbox has provided a much-loved and valued service for communities across Stoke-on-Trent and North Staffordshire since 1983.

We are a charity who provides a range of caring initiatives for vulnerable and elderly adults aimed at fostering a sense of belonging and hope within our community.

Initially founded to provide Christian support and encouragement for local faith groups, through the dedication of our staff and hundreds of amazing volunteers we have evolved to become a leading provider of support services for those in need in the Stoke-on-Trent and North Staffordshire area.

CARELINK

We understand that life’s challenges can lead to feelings of isolation, loneliness, fear and exclusion. Our dedicated teams offer advice and support to individuals over the age of 65. We hold friendly drop-in sessions where individuals can socialise and build friendships. We also host events and day trips, and provide skills training for basic digital needs to help our clients communicate in today’s digital society.

HAWES STREET HOUSING

We believe that everyone deserves a safe and stable place to call home. Through our various initiatives we provide affordable housing to those who are facing financial hardship or homelessness, plus cohesive support services designed to empower our residents as they work towards achieving independence.

Our Hawes Street Housing community in Tunstall, recently received a 97% excellence rating in a residents’ satisfaction survey.

MONEY MATTERS

We recognise the worries surrounding debt and finances and the impact it has on all areas of life. Our dedicated financial service team offer free, impartial and confidential advice across an array of financial matters, including debt management, budgeting, accessing the benefits they are entitled to, and navigating complex court proceedings related to debt.

Our objective is to help our clients regain control of their financial wellbeing, fostering a brighter and more secure future for them.

Our mission is to empower those experiencing homelessness or facing homelessness, as well as individuals seeking a fresh start after incarceration.

We recognise that often circumstances can overwhelm an individual’s ability to cope. This may include a sudden job loss, health issues, or a family breakdown. We provide a range of services designed to help rebuild lives, enhance employability, and address mental health challenges. Helping them to regain their independence, and importantly their pride.
